ESU’s Business Accelerator Helps Student Pursue Entrepreneurial Endeavor

Alan Reed, an East Stroudsburg University graduate from the class of 2013, found success as an entrepreneur with the help of ESU’s Business Accelerator. Reed launched his company Proud Development, LLC in 2015. The company develops web applications that generate revenue on a per-click basis. After working out of his kitchen for six months, Reed knew he needed a designated workspace where he could continue to grow his business. The Business Accelerator is a perfect fit for the young company.

College Values website names East Stroudsburg University Top School for Marine Science

College Values Online has named East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania one of the top schools in the nation to study marine science.

The website, which ranks everything from types of colleges to specific degree programs, listed the ESU as number 14 in a list of the top 20 bachelor’s degrees in marine science programs in the country. The rankings were based on tuition, percentage of students receiving financial aid, customization options within the program and a “wow factor” for unique features in the program.

Provost’s Colloquium Series Continues with Black Mirror and Philosophy

As part of the East Stroudsburg University Provost’s Colloquium Series, Tim Connolly, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the philosophy and religious studies department, will present his talk “Black Mirror and Philosophy” from 5:30-7:00 p.m. on April 5, 2017, in Beers Lecture Hall.

Black Mirror, an acclaimed British television series recently released on Netflix, deals with themes of technology and modern society. Critics have called it a “warped reflection of ourselves and our culture” as well as “cynical, searing, shockingly good — and often disturbing.” Connolly states, “Black Mirror is fascinating to watch because it holds a mirror up to contemporary society: our technology, our politics, and most of all, our ways of relating to one another. It is a very dark show, but also highly entertaining, and many of my students have told me how they’ve watched the entire series from start to finish in just a few days.”
