ESU Rises in ETC Rankings for Economic Value with Emphasis Placed on Workforce Preparedness of Graduates
East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania ranks in the top 15 percent (number 171) of nearly 1,200 accredited four-year colleges according to Educate to Career (ETC). ETC’s methodology utilizes data and analytics to rank schools by the economic value created for their students. “The ETC College Rankings Index is unique as it places major emphasis on the workforce preparedness and the improvement in earnings and employability that grads derive from attending a particular college” said ESU President Marcia G. ESU’s Upward Bound Sends Two High School Students to Leadership Congress
East Stroudsburg University’s Upward Bound program has chosen Salma Mustafa and Divine Kennedy to attend the National Student Leadership Congress in Washington, D.C. June 10 – 15. Mustafa and Kennedy are juniors at East Stroudsburg High School – North. The National Student Leadership Congress is an intensive, six-day residential program focusing on promoting leadership skills and personal development while simulating what it would be like to live and learn on a college campus.

ESU Observatory Welcomes All to View Jupiter and the Moon
The Physics Department at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania will hold an open house at the university observatory to view the first quarter moon and the planet Jupiter and its moons on Friday, June 2, 9–10 p.m., weather permitting. The observatory is located on the roof of the Warren E. ’55 and Sandra Hoeffner Science and Technology Center on Normal Street.

10 Tips for New College Graduates
Career Development professionals from East Stroudsburg University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Millersville University, Slippery Rock University and Edinboro University put together a Tip List for 2017 college graduates. The group came together for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education’s Career Professionals Associations annual spring meeting at Edinboro University on May 18-19.
After years of tough economic challenges for college graduates, recent data show a strong market for 2017 graduates (National Association of Colleges and Employers). Although opportunities are increasing, the job market is more competitive than ever for new grads.

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, N.J., have signed a dual admission agreement for the following majors: environmental science, chemistry, mathematics and physics.
“This collaboration between our institutions will help to create a smooth transfer of credits for students who are coming to ESU from Brookdale with an associates degree to continue their education in STEM fields,” said Joanne Bruno, J.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs at ESU. STEM fields of study include science, technology, engineering and math.

ESU’s Sigma Xi Hosts 42nd Annual Science Honors Banquet
The East Stroudsburg University Chapter of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society, hosted its 42nd annual science honors banquet on April 28 at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn in Stroudsburg, Pa. At the banquet, Sigma Xi honored students from eight departments within the College of Arts and Sciences.
Samantha Miller, a junior majoring in chemistry from Springfield, Pa. and Phillip Reinhardt, a senior majoring in chemistry from East Stroudsburg, Pa. received Sigma Xi associate membership. The recipients of the faculty memorial awards were Andrew Bischer, a graduate student studying biology from Stroudsburg, Pa., and Myla Keiling, a senior majoring in biology from Canadensis, Pa.
