ESU Participates in Take Back the Night
East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania is partnering with Women’s Resources of Monroe County for the 27th annual Take Back the Night march and rally today, April 20. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and this event is designed to raise awareness about sexual and domestic violence, support survivors, and empower men and women to feel safe at night, while also advocating for bystander intervention. Since the 1970s, thousands of colleges, domestic violence shelters, and rape crisis centers have held Take Back the Night events all over the country, focusing on eliminating sexual and domestic violence in all forms.

ESU Students Spend Day at Capitol Seeking Support for Universities
Nearly 100 university students – including nine representatives from East Stroudsburg University – accompanied dozens of faculty, staff, university presidents, trustees and alumni from the 14 universities that comprise Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education to meet with legislators throughout the Capitol on Tuesday seeking support for and investment in the State System.

Earth Day Celebration Planned at ESU
On Thursday, April 20, East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania will hold an Earth Day celebration event from noon to 4 p.m. on the main quad on campus. The theme for this year’s event is “Climate change – go green to save the blue.” The afternoon will be filled with live music, guest speakers and trivia games.

Psychology Department’s Biannual Research Forum Celebrates 20 Years of Student Research
In the late 1990s an outside reviewer of the East Stroudsburg University psychology department praised many aspects of the department but noted that it was not keeping up with national trends related to undergraduate student research. In response, Sussie Eshun, Ph.D., professor of psychology, initiated the department’s Biannual Research Forum in 1996. The following year, Richard Wesp, Ph.D., distinguished professor of psychology, helped to expand the forum to include student poster presentations. Now in its 20th year, all members of the psychology department are actively involved in the paramount event which engages students in the field and acknowledges their involvement in the discipline in each semester.
