ESU Business Management Students Offer Free Tax Preparation Help

For anyone who has not yet filed their taxes, ESU business students have got your numbers. Senior business management and accounting majors who have received training by the IRS and passed the required qualifying exam want to help the general public focus on their refund checks — for free.

By appointment only, through Wednesday, April 15, ESU students are offering their assistance to the general public in preparing tax returns. The ESU Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service, will be offered from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays at the ESU Innovation Center, located at 562 Independence Road, East Stroudsburg, Pa.

“This program offers student and faculty volunteers an opportunity to collaborate on this important community service-learning initiative during spring break,” Robert Fleischman, Ed.D., dean of the college of business and management, said.

It is projected that the program will serve more than 150 members of the community this tax season.

Student volunteers include Kathy Migliaccio, a senior from Tannersville,Pa.,  Umer Zaimov, a junior from Wind Gap, Pa., Shelby Ott , a senior from Saylorsburg, David Egresits , a senior from Whitesboro, N.Y, Luke Petro, a senior from Bethlehem, Pa.,  James Lancellotti, a senior from East Stroudsburg, Pa., and Keven Bertholf , a junior from Columbia, N.J.
