In an effort to recognize faculty and staff members for their outstanding service, Dr. Welsh has launched the ESyou campaign beginning with the fall semester, 2013. Each week the ESyou campaign will feature a different faculty or staff member who has demonstrated excellence in student-centered service. The purpose of the campaign is to showcase those employees who make an impact on our students every day, and for the students to get to know them.
Congratulations to our next honoree, Dr. John Elwood. When you see Dr. Elwood or any of our honorees around campus this year, please recognize their exemplary service by introducing yourself and thanking them personally. There is no greater acknowledgment!
- Dr. Elwood fosters learning and discovery in the classroom and on field trips.
- He instills in his students a good work ethic and a desire to succeed.
- Dr. Elwood is dedicated to the improvement of general Education.

Congrats to Dr. Elwood! One of the finest educators I’ve ever encountered. This mom of 3, non traditional ELED major (Class of ’07), had to take a Physics (Study On Your Own) course. Hardest course I took at ESU as far as learning the content. Dr. Elwood was ALWAYS patient, kind, encouraging, reassuring and inspirational (his biking). I take a piece of my experiences with him into my classroom and dialogues with my students everyday.
