HRTM Students Inducted into Honor Society

Earlier this semester, East Stroudsburg University’s Department of Hospitality, Recreation, and Tourism Department held an induction ceremony for the Eta Sigma Delta International Hospitality Management Society. At the ceremony, Olivia Karas, a senior majoring in recreation services management, from Kunkletown, Pa., addressed the audience. Dave Makarsky, managing director of Camelback Resort, delivered a keynote address. Makarsky shared his own career journey, offering invaluable advice and lessons learned along the way.
The ceremony recognized the academic achievements and leadership qualities of 10
Students. They are Kahli Abrams, a senior majoring in hotel, restaurant and tourism management from Allentown, Pa.; Claudia Demaris, a senior majoring in hotel, restaurant and tourism management from Pen Argyl, Pa.; Alexis Fox, a junior majoring in marketing from Hillsborough, N.J.: Carson Garvey, a junior majoring in recreation services management from Boiling Springs, Pa.; Crysta Heffner, a junior majoring in hotel, restaurant and tourism management from Schuylkill Haven, Pa.; Catherina Maldonado, a senior majoring in hotel, restaurant and tourism management from Wappingers Fl, N.Y.; Julia Reisner, a senior majoring in recreation services management from Pottstown, Pa.; Paul Sadlon, a senior majoring in hotel, restaurant and tourism management from Easton, Pa.; Brooke Shallop, a junior majoring in hotel, restaurant and tourism management from Stroudsburg, Pa.; and Kaeli Weatherford, a junior hotel, restaurant and tourism management from Wellsboro, Pa.
Eta Sigma Delta is administered by the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE) and is dedicated to advancing education in hospitality and tourism. With over 90 chapters worldwide, Eta Sigma Delta provides members with the chance to stand out in the competitive hospitality sector, connecting with potential employers and educators alike. Established in 1990, the ESU chapter has proudly inducted more than 450 members into this esteemed honor society, celebrating a legacy of excellence in the hospitality field.
