Nine ESU Students Accepted Into Psi Chi: The International Honor Society for Psychology

Nine students at East Stroudsburg University (ESU) were recently accepted into Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology. Psi Chi holds the distinction of being the largest student psychological organization in the world, having over 750,000 members. Psi Chi’s mission is to promote excellence in scholarship and to advance the science of psychology. The ESU chapter was founded in 1980 and since that time, hundreds of students have become members of this prestigious organization. Reneé Boburka, Ph.D. professor of psychology, and Irina Khusid, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology, are the faculty advisors for the ESU chapter of Psi Chi.

The membership requirements for Psi Chi are that students be enrolled as a major or minor in a psychology program; complete at least 3 semesters of full-time college coursework and at least 9 credit hours of psychology courses; and earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale and a minimum 3.0 GPA for psychology courses.

The new student members of Psi Chi for the spring 2022 semester are: Jessica Brzegowski, a senior early childhood and elementary education major from Blakely, Pa; Courtney da Silva, a junior athletic training major from Mount Holly, NJ; Meghan Guarino, a sophomore psychology major from Olyphant, Pa; Amanda Hess, a senior social work major from Effort, Pa; Savannah Kohler, a sophomore psychology major from West Grove, Pa; Neva Maglione, a sophomore psychology major from Princeton, NJ; Noel Miller, a junior psychology major from Easton, Pa; Melissa Pertschuk, a junior psychology major from Monroe Township, NJ; and Lance Robson, a junior psychology major from East Stroudsburg, Pa.
