Celebrate the Holidays at ESU! Please join President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D., and your friends and colleagues as we celebrate the winter season with the following events, open to all:

  • December 10 – Faculty and Staff Holiday Social from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, in the Keystone Room. Register by December 4 for the social at

ESU’s McMunn Planetarium Hosting Double Feature Sky Show, at 7:00 PM and Second Show at 8:00 PM, Friday, December 5 in the McMunn Planetarium in the Warren E. ’55 and Sandra Hoeffner Science and Technology Center. “Long Winter Nights” explores the sights of the local evening skies during this time of year while “Passport to the Universe” explains the location of our planet and solar system in the vast cosmos. The program is open to the general public. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children under 12 or seniors over 60. Tickets are available now at No tickets are available at the door. Programs are suitable for children but be advised that the planetarium will be quite dark during the sky show and feature show. The planetarium can also be reserved for group programs catering to all ages. Special group rates are available. 5 K Jingle Bell Walk/Run Event at 9:00 AM, Saturday, December 6 in Front of Zimbar Building. Sign-in begins at 8:30 AM in the lobby of Zimbar. Participation fee is $20 with dri-fi t-shirt or $10 without shirt. All proceeds will benefit the student PDS Scholarship Fund. Auditions for University Dance Company from 2:00 to 3:45 PM, Monday, January 26 in Koehler Dance Studio. Men and women with prior dance experience in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, and hip-hop are encouraged to audition. The audition will be like a dance class. No prepared solo is needed. Students accepted into University Dance Company are required to enroll in and attend DANC 315: Dance Performance & Production (1 cr) MW 2:00 to 3:45 PM. Auditions for A Midsummer Night’s Dream – January 21 and 22. Actors, dancers, singers and musicians are needed. Everyone must read the entire script before auditioning. All actors, dancers and singers should dress for group movement and group singing auditions from 6:00 – 7:00 PM Jan. 21 or 6:30 – 7:30 PM Jan. 22. Individual auditions are 7:00 – 9:00 PM Jan. 21 and 7:30 – 9:30 PM Jan. 22. Actors should prepare a 1 minute monologue—Shakespeare is preferred. Singers should prepare 16 bars from a song either a cappella or accompanied by tape. Musicians should bring their instrument and prepare 16 bars of a song.
