Our new Sports Directors are Maddy Fore and Mehki Williams
Welcome to WESS! Sports Broadcasting Training takes as long as you would like it to, with the shortest amount of time. Following your first training session with the Training Director, you will be required to take and pass the WESS Training Exam. You can take the exam whenever you’d like as long as it’s not the same day you were trained. Take your time by looking over the Station Manual and Constitution. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask the Training Director or any other officers at the station!
After completing the exam with a passing grade, you are required to complete a DJ Shadow. You must shadow at least 1 hour of any live 90.3 show. You can shadow any show that is highlighted in green on the schedule outside the Program Director’s office door. Once you complete 1 shadow of a show, you will then shadow at least 1 sports broadcast. Contact the Sports Director and, after your shadow, get his/her signature. After your sports broadcast shadow, you will need to be trained on how to produce a sports broadcast from the on-air studio. Contact the Sports Director for details.
