At WESS, we take students directly from the classroom into the studio, so our broadcasting day is a constantly evolving mélange each and every semester. In addition, proud alumni and faculty bring their extensive experience to hosting shows which helps give regular listeners some familiar personalities over the long term. This best of both worlds combination helps ensure our programming has something for everyone, across demographics.
Some of the highlights of our schedule for Fall 2023 include New Music Mondays with the station’s music director Razz LiBardi followed by Fore Philly Sports with co-sports director Maddy Fore. On Tuesday Ty Stanley surveys the rock landscape on Rock Nation while Devin Heffernan and Mick Tillson talk all things music on Fidelity Mountain. On Wednesdays Sean Cleary brings listeners the finest the country genre has to offer on Cleary’s Country and station training director Keyon Fields explores instrumental music across the genres on Instrumental Vibes. On Thursday station manager Liam Kieselbach presents an exciting hour-long blend of pop, electronic, hip-hop, and soundtracks on Lost in Space and Matthew Kircher and DJ Rawle celebrate and discuss the world of classic rock on Spirit of Classic Rock. On Friday mornings Dr. Rozea presents Blues Hound, two hours of blues rock for early morning drives. In the afternoon program director Travis Wolfe gives us The Wolfe Den, a mix of modern pop, punk, metalcore, and alternative rock jams.
Over the weekend Steve Krawitz offers Jazz for the Common Man and WESS business manager Amethyst Scott dives Inside the Headlines. In addition, Dr. Leon delivers Heavy Metal Retrospective, an energized block with discussion of featured tracks from extreme metal greats both old and new.
Overnight, WESS zooms out from our local, community-based perspective to serve the public by broadcasting high quality international news and culture programming as an affiliate of the BBC World Service. 90.3’s well rounded combination of local and international information, culture, and sports programing along with our constantly rotating, diverse musical selections allow us to be a station worth tuning in to 24/7, all year long.
