Today, Weissbach’s award-winning artwork has moved from her parents’ refrigerator to public exhibits in the Pocono region. This year, she took second place in the “Works on Paper” category in the Pocono Arts Council’s 2016 Members’ Exhibition and won “Best in Show” at the juried Student Art Association Exhibition at ESU’s Madelon Powers Gallery.

“The first spark for a tale about a mentally ill old man’s interaction with zoo animals came from a very close friendship with a schizophrenic man whom I once spotted ‘talking’ to a troop of howler monkeys during our visit to the Houston Zoo,” Broun said.
