State System Consultant Provides Final Report; Board of Governors to Craft Action Plan for the Future

Student Senate Advisor Elected President of United States JCI Senate

The United States Junior Chamber International Senate (JCI) has elected John Robinson, Ed.D., president. Dr. Robinson is the senior director for the Student Activity Association at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. He serves as the administrator for all student organizations at ESU, advisor to Student Senate, oversees the day to day building operations for the University Center, and assists with management of SAA operations.

ESU and EPA Enterprises Launch Cutter™ Lyme Disease Tick Test

In the Pocono Mountains the importance of checking for ticks after spending time outdoors is critical. Pennsylvania leads the nation in Lyme disease cases and Lyme disease is the most common vector borne infection in the United States. Ticks, however, do not just seek out people and pets in Pennsylvania. In fact, sciencemag.org has found Lyme disease-carrying ticks are found in half of all U.S. counties. But today, with the support of EPA Enterprises, East Stroudsburg University will make the detection of Lyme disease easier – and faster – for people and their pets everywhere.

Department of Theatre to Present An Evening of Song Featuring Thomas Lehman

Internationally renowned baritone Thomas Lehman, a graduate of Stroudsburg High School, will present An Evening of Song Thursday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Cecilia S. Cohen Recital Hall of East Stroudsburg University’s Fine and Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets, East Stroudsburg.

The program will feature works by composers Samuel Barber, Charles Ives and Henri Duparc and selections from the musical theatre repertoire. Kimberly Kong will be the accompanist for the recital.

Bicyclists Stop at ESU on an Epic Cross-Country Journey to Raise Awareness for FSHD

East Stroudsburg University served as a rest stop for a group of bicyclists making a coast-to-coast cross-country journey. The group arrived at ESU on Monday, July 18 and was provided, beds, showers and meals. They departed on Tuesday, July 19 for Marlboro N.J. before completing their journey in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Chancellor Frank T. Brogan to Retire From State System September 1, 2017

Chancellor Frank T. Brogan today announced he will retire Sept. 1 from Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. The Board of Governors will name interim leadership pending a national search for Mr. Brogan’s successor.

“From the moment he arrived, Chancellor Brogan has shined a bright light on the challenges facing our universities and the State System—prompting important public dialogue about the need to do things differently,” said Board of Governors chair Cynthia D. Shapira. “Because of his leadership, we are better positioned to make important decisions about the future of our System.”
