East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and Montgomery County Community College have signed a dual admission agreement.

“This collaboration between our institutions only serves to strengthen our partnership and demonstrates the commitment by ESU and Montgomery County Community College to student success,” said ESU President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D. “A dual admission agreement will help to create a smooth transfer of credits for students who are coming to ESU from Montgomery County Community College with an associates degree.”

ESU Calls for MLK Award Nominations

Nominations are being accepted for the 2017 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards, which will be presented at the 20th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Celebration Breakfast at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 8 a.m. in the Mattioli Recreation Center. Nominees for the awards should exemplify characteristics of Dr. King’s philosophy of non-violence, equality, justice, cultural diversity and respect for humanity.

Provost’s Colloquium Series at ESU to Present Talk and Art Exhibit, Cellblock Visions: “Set Free in the Penitentiary”

As part of East Stroudsburg University’s Provost’s Colloquium Series, Phyllis Kornfeld, art workshop facilitator and curator of the upcoming exhibit Cellblock Visions, “Set Free in the Penitentiary,” will discuss the exhibit Thursday, November 3 at 3 p.m. in Cecilia S. Cohen Recital Hall of ESU’s Fine and Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets, East Stroudsburg.

The talk will open an exhibition, which will feature paintings, drawings and objects created by men and women prisoners in six states and can be viewed in University’s Madelon Powers Gallery November 1-22.

ESU Theatre Students Not Scared by Service Learning Project

Whether you meet Little Red Riding Hood or Freddie Krueger on the trail around East Stroudsburg’s Zacharias Pond Park this Saturday night, October 22, you’ll be meeting a Warrior.

Sewell-Allen Named Dean of Student Life At East Stroudsburg University

Doreen Tobin, D.Ed., vice president of student affairs at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU), announced the appointment of Cornelia Sewell-Allen as the Dean of Student Life effective Monday, October 17, 2016.  This position replaces the previous departmental position of assistant vice president for student affairs, which was vacated in September 2016.

“I was pleased when I learned that Cornelia submitted her application for the Dean of Students position, and was even more thrilled when she was recommended for the position by the search committee,” said Dr. Tobin. “Cornelia is highly regarded by students, faculty and staff alike. Her experience in Student Affairs, proven ability as an effective advocate for students, and collaborative working style make her the perfect match for the position. Cornelia will serve the division of student affairs and university well in her new role as the Dean of Student Life.”

ESU Residence Halls Invite Children to Trick or Treat through Residence Halls

The Office of Residence Life and Housing at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania invites community members to Trick or Treat through residence halls on Wednesday, October 26 at 5 p.m. The event, sponsored by ESU’s Residence Hall Association (RHA), is open to all area children, kindergarten through fifth grade. There is no cost to participate. Children are asked to wear their costumes and bring a trick-or-treat bag.
