Student Senate and Women’s Center Organizes Walk To Raise Awareness Against Sexual Assault
The Student Senate of East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU), in collaboration with ESU’s Women’s Center, the Musical Theatre Organization and Interfraternity Council, will host a Sexual Assault Awareness Walk on Tuesday, November 1, 2016. The walk will begin at the University Courtyard, located directly behind ESU’s University Center on Normal Street in East Stroudsburg at 2:00 p.m., and will end at the University’s Women’s Center, 411 Normal Street.

Strauser Painting Raffled Off at ESU
The East Stroudsburg University Sterling Strauser Gallery Committee recently partnered with the Pocono Arts Council to raffle off one of two Strauser paintings donated to the Gallery by Bob Moses, chair of the Strauser Gallery Committee. Proceeds from the raffle will help preserve the Strauser collection at ESU.

ESU Hosts Diwali Night
Diwali Night ’16 will commence with the ceremonial lighting of lamps followed by a short introduction to the meaning of Diwali and other festivities around this time of year. The highlight of this year’s Diwali program is classical Kuchipudi dance by Sridevi Mungara and her students. Mungara has performed in various cities across India and the United States and has given lecture demonstrations for the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC-MACAY) in the U.S. and at the Center for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), Hyderabad, India.

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and Montgomery County Community College have signed a dual admission agreement.
“This collaboration between our institutions only serves to strengthen our partnership and demonstrates the commitment by ESU and Montgomery County Community College to student success,” said ESU President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D. “A dual admission agreement will help to create a smooth transfer of credits for students who are coming to ESU from Montgomery County Community College with an associates degree.”

Nominations are being accepted for the 2017 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards, which will be presented at the 20th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Celebration Breakfast at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 8 a.m. in the Mattioli Recreation Center. Provost’s Colloquium Series at ESU to Present Talk and Art Exhibit, Cellblock Visions: “Set Free in the Penitentiary”
As part of East Stroudsburg University’s Provost’s Colloquium Series, Phyllis Kornfeld, art workshop facilitator and curator of the upcoming exhibit Cellblock Visions, “Set Free in the Penitentiary,” will discuss the exhibit Thursday, November 3 at 3 p.m. in Cecilia S. Cohen Recital Hall of ESU’s Fine and Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets, East Stroudsburg.
The talk will open an exhibition, which will feature paintings, drawings and objects created by men and women prisoners in six states and can be viewed in University’s Madelon Powers Gallery November 1-22.
