A total of 1,409 students have been named to the Dean’s List at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) for the Fall 2015 semester of the 2015-2016 academic year, according to Joanne Bruno, J.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs.

ESU Hosts Documentary Showing of The Hunting Ground

Over 100 students were interviewed nationally in a film that tells individual stories of sexual assault on college campuses. The documentary “The Hunting Ground” will be shown at East Stroudsburg University on Monday, February 29 in Monroe Hall B01 at 7 p.m.

The students featured in the film took action in order to break the silence about sexual assault on college campuses and to force their universities to hold perpetrators accountable and to put services in place to support survivors. Weaving together verité footage and first-person testimonies, the film foregrounds the efforts of survivors as they attempt to pursue—despite incredible pushback, harassment and traumatic aftermath—both their education and justice.

Writer of Classic Musical The Fanasticks To Speak at ESU, February 25, During Week of Performances

Tom Jones, the author of The Fantasticks, will discuss his career in musical theatre on Thursday, February 25 at 11 a.m. at the Cecilia S. Cohen Recital Hall of East Stroudsburg University’s Fine and Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets, East Stroudsburg,

Jones also will be attending the opening performance of the musical at ESU on Wednesday, February 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Dale Snow Theatre of ESU’s Fine and Performing Arts Center.

With his composing partner Harvey Schmidt, Jones wrote The Fantasticks for a summer theatre at Barnard College. After its Off-Broadway opening in May 1960, the musical went on to become the longest-running production in the history of the American stage and one of the most frequently produced musicals in the world. The Fantasticks is currently running in a successful revival in New York.

Sing Hallelujah; Panic! At the Disco Announced as Spring Concert

Panic! At the Disco will be taking over East Stroudsburg University’s Mattioli Recreation Center on April 21 at 8 p.m. as the university’s spring concert. Doors open at 7 p.m.

“Students love live music,” Ian Brown, a sophomore majoring in communication studies from Holmes, Pa., and concert chair for the Campus Activities Board (CAB), said. “It draws attention to campus.” Members of CAB, a student organization that focuses on campus life activities, surveyed students last semester to narrow down the concert choices for the spring semester. About 900 students participated in the survey that led to the selection.

ESU Announces New Chief Of Police, SARP’s William Parrish

Ken Long, vice president of administration and finance at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU), announced the appointment of William Parrish as chief of university police effective March, 19, 2016.

Parrish comes to ESU from his position as Chief of Police for the Stroud Area Regional Police (SARP) Department in East Stroudsburg, Pa., a position he has held since 2012. Parrish has been a member of SARP since 2000, and prior to his post with SARP, he was a member of the Stroud Township Police Department and the Stroudsburg Police Department respectively.  He also served in the U.S. Army as a military police officer.

Bria Waters and Janese Felder started a chapter of the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality (NSMH) at ESU. Their passion and excitement for the organization was recognized at 27th Annual National Society of Minorities Conference, where the ESU chapter received the Best New Chapter award.
